Michigan Tech's Petersen, Tiffin's Huffman Named GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the fifth weekend of the 2017 volleyball season. Michigan Tech sophomore outside hitter MacAulay Petersen earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Tiffin sophomore outside hitter Jenna Huffman captured South Division accolades.

NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MacAulay Petersen, Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech sophomore hitter MacAulay Petersen led the Huskies in kills in 11 of their 15 matches this season. Petersen registered 15 kills with only three errors at Grand Valley State Friday, and tallied double-figure kills (11 kills/one error) again Saturday at Wayne State. Petersen had an impressive attack percentage of .526 and added a pair of blocks to advance in conference play with a 3-0 sweep over the Warriors. Petersen currently ranks third in the GLIAC in both kills per set (3.56) and total kills (185).

SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jenna Huffman, Tiffin

Tiffin University earned a weekend sweep, thanks in large part to sophomore Jenna Huffman. The middle hitter collected 27 kills (3.86 k/s) and a .442 hitting percentage. Huffman was solid on defense as well for Tiffin, finishing with 24 digs (3.43 d/s) and 10 blocks (1.43 b/s). For good measure, Jenna added four service aces to her stat line as Tiffin dropped Purdue Northwest 3-1 and Davenport 3-0.
