GVSU Sweeps GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week Honors at Greater Louisville Classic

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after Week 5 of the 2017 cross country season. Grand Valley State sophomore Allie Ludge captured GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on the women's side, while Grand Valley State senior Wuoi Mach garnered the men's award for the second time this year.


WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Allie Ludge, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State sophomore Allie Ludge (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was the top NCAA Division II runner at the Greater Louisville Classic with a time of 17:33.3 and helped the Lakers claim top honors in the Division II race. Ludge was competing for the first time in 2017. Grand Valley State is the top ranked team nationally in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association rankings.


MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Wuoi Mach, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior Wuoi Mach was the top NCAA Division II finisher at the Greater Louisville Classic and finished 9th overall with a time of 23:40.9. This is Mach’s second race this season in which he finished as the top Division II runner and placed in the top-10 overall regardless of division. Grand Valley State is ranked second nationally in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association rankings.
