Wayne State's Defrain, Northwood's Patrick Garner GLIAC Cross Country Weekly Recognition

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the sixth week of the 2018 cross country season. Wayne State freshman Ashley Defrain captured GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on the women's side for the third time this year, while Northwood sophomore Brian Patrick garnered the men's award. 


WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ashley Defrain - Wayne State

Wayne State freshman Ashley Defrain (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Port Huron Northern) led WSU to the team title at the Inaugural Warrior Challenge, with a first-place individual time of 21:58.5 (out of 85 runners).  The 6K Challenge was held at Willow Metropark in New Boston, Mich.  This is the third time this season that Defrain has been selected GLIAC Female Runner of the Week.


MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Brian Patrick - Northwood

Northwood sophomore Brian Patrick had the best meet of his collegiate career Saturday, leading the Timberwolves to a second-place team finish at the inaugural Warrior Challenge. Patrick finished second overall, turning in a time of 25:26.2. That was his personal-best in the 8K by 74 seconds.
