GLIAC teams and individuals earn berths to 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country championships

GLIAC -- A total of six Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams earned bids to the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Committee recently announced.

The Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State men's teams and the Grand Valley State and Wayne State women's teams earned automatic berths by finishing in the top three at the Midwest Regional on Nov. 19 in Kenosha, Wis. The 2022 GLIAC champion GVSU men's and women's teams won last weekend's regional competition.

The Michigan Tech men's and Saginaw Valley State women's teams were among a field of 10 additional teams that were selected at-large.

Ransom Allen of Wayne State and Katja Baeuerle of Parkside were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.

The championships will be held Friday, Dec. 2 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash. Seattle Pacific University will serve as the host. The men’s race will begin at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the women’s race at 2:15 p.m. ET.
