AUGUSTA, Mich. -- Play at the 2024 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship got underway Friday at Stonehedge North Golf Course in Augusta, Mich. with 18 holes of stroke play.

Davenport claimed the early lead, posting a field-best 12-over par, 300. The Panthers were led by Hannah Robinson, who shot a round-best 1-over, 73. DU's Melissa Walker (+3, 75), Lauren Gervais (+4, 76) and ThaiLee Gerding (+4, 76) also finished in the top 10.

Grand Valley State ended the day in second place (+16, 304), four strokes behind Davenport. The Lakers were headlined by Olivia Stoll (+2, 74) and Julia Sanchez (+3, 75), who finished the day in second and third place, respectively.

Ferris State is currently in third (+22, 310) in the team standings, followed by Saginaw Valley State (+24, 312), Wayne State (+25, 313), Northern Michigan (+36, 324), Lake Superior State (+44, 332) and Purdue Northwest (+59, 347).

The highlight of the day was supplied by Parkside's Brin Neumann, who made a hole-in-one on the 145-yard, par 3 hole number 13. 

The 2024 GLIAC medalist will be determined after a second round of 18-hole stroke play on Saturday. Tee times are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The top four teams in the standings following 36 holes of stroke play will advance to match play semifinals on Saturday afternoon. The top two teams will then square off in an 18-hole showdown for the 2024 GLIAC team title on Sunday.

AUGUSTA, Mich. -- The second day of action at the 2024 GLIAC Men's Golf Championship saw an individual medalist crowned, four medal match play semifinalists decided and the pairing for the medal match final determined.

Grand Valley State junior Olivia Stoll rose to top of the player leaderboard on Saturday, securing individual medalist honors by shooting a 2-under, 70 round. Combined with her round of 74 on Friday, Stoll was a title-clinching even-par for the 36 holes (144).

Laker teammate Julia Sanchez finished second (+3, 147) while Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon (+4, 148) and Saginaw Valley State's Megan Thiravong (+6, 150) and Brook Herbstreit (+7, 151) rounded out the top 5.

Grand Valley State claimed the top seed for the afternoon's medal match play round, finishing a collective 12-over (604). Davenport (+40, 616), Saginaw Valley State (+44, 620) and Ferris State (+46, 622) also qualified for the semifinals.

In the medal match semis, Grand Valley State handled No. 4 seed Ferris State, 4-1, and second seed Davenport overtook No. 3 Saginaw Valley State late to advance, 3-2.

Grand Valley State and Davenport will meet on Sunday in an 18-hole medal match play battle for the 2024 GLIAC championship.

Day 3 Leaderboard: Finals 

AUGUSTA, Mich. -- Grand Valley State defeated Davenport, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Stonehedge North Golf Course in the medal match play finals of the 2024 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship to capture the conference title.

Julia Sanchez (3 strokes), Olivia Stoll (2 strokes), Megan Miron (4 strokes), Paula Badino (4 strokes) and Rachael Krieger (6 strokes) each won their head-to-head matches to secure the title for the Lakers. Stoll and Badino posted a top round of 75. GVSU finished 14 shots better than DU overall.

COURSE INFORMATION

Golfers who love forested terrain and formidable elevation changes will love Gull Lake View’s fifth course, Stonehedge North. Designed by Charles and Jon Scott, Stonehedge North opened in 1995 and has been impressing golfers with its dramatic landscape features ever since. With six par 3's, six par 4's, and six par 5's, the North course is a fan favorite.
