Former Athletic Director Bill Blazer Inducted to Urbana Hall of Fame

URBANA, Ohio – Former Ohio Dominican athletic director Bill Blazer, currently ODU’s director of athletic development, earned induction into Urbana University’s Athletic Hall of Fame, Urbana announced today.

Prior to his arrival at ODU, Blazer spent 14 years at Urbana, where he served as Athletic Director, Men’s Golf Coach and a tenured Associate Professor in the Division of Business and Economics. During his time as athletic director, the Blue Knight men’s and women’s basketball teams made national tournament appearances. The basketball teams, as well as the baseball, softball, and volleyball teams set school records for wins in a season. The football program recorded its first .500 season in 1998, the same year Blazer spearheaded efforts to bring the men’s and women’s soccer programs back to UU.

As the golf coach, the Blue Knights had a .726 winning percentage, with five golfers earning first team all-conference honors and three more garnering academic All-American honors.

Blazer, the 36th member to be enshrined into the Urbana University Athletic Hall of Fame, will be recognized on Saturday, Feb. 2 following a Blue Knight basketball doubleheader.

A member of the Ohio Dominican community since 2004, Blazer guided the Ohio Dominican athletic department to 14 conference titles and 12 national tournament appearances. In 2007-08, Blazer was named NAIA Region IX Athletic Director of the Year and was also named the NAIA Northeast Region Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year for 2008-09
