No stranger to GLIAC awards, Hillsdale College junior Emily Oren earned another one Friday morning.

Oren was one of three Charger athletes (Megan Fogt and Kyle Cooper) to be named a recipient of the GLIAC Commissioner’s Award for the Winter 2014-15 season.

She won one individual national championship and was part of the national champion distance medley relay team for the NCAA Division II runner-up Charger women’s track team during the indoor track season. She joined Jason Stomps and Amanda Putt as the only NCAA Division II national champions in program history.

An economics major, Oren was a major part of Hillsdale’s NCAA Division II runner-up finish at the national indoor track and field championships in Alabama in March.

Oren was one of three Hillsdale College student-athletes to earn GLIAC Commissioner’s Awards for the winter season, joining women’s basketball player Megan Fogt and men’s basketball player Kyle Cooper. The award recognizes the elite student-athletes in the conference following each of the three competition seasons in a given school year. Hillsdale produced 25 percent (3 out of 12) of the total commissioner’s award winners for the winter season.

Oren, an All-American in four consecutive competition seasons dating back to the 2013-14 indoor track season, is a native of Hamilton, Michigan.
