ASHLAND, Ohio - The Ashland University athletic department and four of its teams will be “Thinking Pink,” on Oct. 22-24, to support the Ashland County Cancer Association. During that time period, a number of special events are planned to help raise funds and awareness about cancer.

The volleyball team will host Northwood on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m., and Lake Superior State on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.  At both matches specially designed pink t-shirts will be sold for $10 apiece.

On Friday, Oct. 22, the women’s and men’s soccer teams will host Ohio Dominican. The women’s contest begins at 2 p.m., with the men’s match following at 4:30 p.m.  On Sunday, Oct. 24, Urbana comes to Ferguson Field for a twinbill. The women’s match will kick off at noon with the men’s engagement scheduled for 2:30 p.m.  Shirts will be sold ($10 apiece) next week during regular business hours at the soccer offices in the Robert Troop Center.  Shirts will be sold on both soccer game days if the supply lasts.

Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go to the Ashland County Cancer Association.

On Saturday, Oct. 23, the AU football team will host Saginaw Valley State at 1 p.m., at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex.  Fans wearing the most pink clothing will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Advantage Marketing.  The AU athletic department will be accepting monetary donations at the gates to the stadium.  Money collected at the football game will be used to support women in need to receive free mammograms.
