Detroit, Mich – The Wayne State men’s and women’s basketball teams held its annual "Pink Zone" night on Monday, February 7. The event, which raised $637.00, was sponsored by both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Leading up to the event, both teams sold over 300 WBCA wall decals. The decals were placed in and around the entrance to the Matthaei Center. In addition, during the contest the athletic department sold pink t-shirts that featured the Wayne State logo inside the breast cancer ribbon. Proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The WSU women's basketball squad wore pink uniforms along with pink shoes laces during its 70-65 win over Madonna University. The men sported pink shoe laces and pink warm-up shirts in their 95-72 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside.
Jeanette Turner, grandmother of current Warrior Jerry Oden, was honored with a pink t-shirt signed by the WSU men’s and women’s players for her courageous battle against breast cancer.
