Preview: Laker Women's Basketball Set to Host Upper Peninsula Rivals

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball program (5-12, 2-7 GLIAC) is set to face the Northern Michigan Wildcats and the Michigan Tech Huskies on Thursday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 28 for a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) games at the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.  

The Lakers continue to boast the top rebounding duo in the GLIAC in Mattison Rayman (Otsego, Mich.) (10.7 rpg) and true freshman Grace Bradford (Glen Arbor, Mich.) (9.8 rpg) with marks that have them ranked first and second in the league, respectively. Rayman also went on to average 20 points per game against the Huskies and Wildcats earlier this season.

The Wildcats are currently holding a record of 11-7 (6-3 GLIAC). Offensively, the Wildcats have Makaylee Kuhn leading the team with 15.9 points per game while also leading the Wildcats in rebounds with an average of 7.6 per game. 

The Huskies currently hold a record of 16-3 (8-1 GLIAC), and they are currently riding a six-game winning streak, including upsetting then No. 4 Grand Valley in their most recent contest. They are led offensively by Isabella Lenz scoring an average of 13.8 points per game to pace a balanced offense. Meanwhile, Alex Rondorf leads the team on the glass with an average of 8.1 rebounds per game while also ranking in the top-five in the GLIAC in shooting percentage.
