Bulldog Volleyball Closes Out Trip To Western Washington Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad closed out the Western Washington Invitational with a pair of tough decisions on Friday (Aug. 26) in Bellingham, Wash.

The Bulldogs suffered a 3-0 setback to Sonoma State (Calif.) before falling to Simon Fraser (Canada) in a close 3-2 tilt on Friday evening.

In the opener, Sonoma State recorded the win by scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-18, hitting .236 overall for the match. FSU was limited to a .045 attack percentage in the contest.

Ferris State was led by Olivia Henneman-Dallape with six kills and Syann Fairfield added five kills for the Bulldogs. Kaylee Maat totaled 22 assists with Leah Bylut notching 13 digs. Claire Nowicki posted four service aces.

Sonoma State got nine kills from Brooklyn Jackson along with eight by Jessie Hobbs. Jen Trephan registered 20 assists and 14 digs.

In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs fell in the opening set 25-18 against Simon Fraser, but came back to take a 2-1 lead in the contest with victories of 25-20 and 25-23 in the second and third sets, respectively. However, Simon Fraser won set four 25-20 and then pulled out a 15-11 decision in the deciding frame.

Henneman-Dallape again paced FSU with 11 kills while Fairfield had nine for the Bulldogs. Maat finished with 34 assists and Nowicki totaled 13 digs in leading FSU.

The Bulldogs did have 10 service aces, but also had 12 service errors and hit .114 for the evening.

Jocelyn Sherman led Simon Fraser with 15 total kills. Camryn Vosloh and Brooke Dexter both netted 13 kills.

Ferris State returns home to Michigan and will take part in the Hillsdale Invitational Sept. 1-3 in Hillsdale.
