Lady Dragons fall in seesaw season opener

Tiffin University (0-1) battled throughout the game but a late run by Davis & Elkins pulled out the victory 78-76 in TU's season opening game played at Lake Erie College.

The Dragons won most of the statistical categories but couldn't handle Davis & Elkins inside, as the Senators held a strong 44-29 rebounding advantage. They also enjoyed a 15-2 edge in second chance points. TU forced 22 Senator turnovers while also committing 14 miscues, turning them into 29 points off turnovers. TU also shot 53 percent from three point in the game, which saw 11 lead changes.

TU led at the half 32-31 but the Senators turned the score around in the third quarter. With TU trailing 57-49 early in the fourth quarter, TU rallied for a 15-4 run that put them up 64-61 at the 5:35 mark.

TU continued to lead 73-71 with 1:32 left but a Senators' three pointers and 4 made free throws gave them a 7-0 run that put the game away.

Allie Miller led TU with 18 points, while Ali Schirmer had 14. Kiley May and Kristen Massey had 12 points each while Bre Nauman had 11 points and 5 rebounds. Deidre McKay led with 7 assists.
