However, Ferris State continued to control the tempo and a WSU turnover produced a fast break layup, extending the margin to 27-21.  Sophomore Kylin Grant (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance) converted a three-point play at the 5:28 mark to bring WSU within three, 29-26.  Walt Kelser drilled a long-range jumper to give the Bulldogs their largest lead of the night, 35-28.  A bucket from Owens-White kept Wayne State within striking distance. 38-34, at the 1:38 mark.  Sophomore Nate Talbot (Lake Orion, Mich.) got in on the scoring with a layup with 22 seconds left in the stanza to put the halftime tally ay 40-36 in favor of FSU.

Ferris State scored first in the second half on a Michael Peterson cutting layup, extending the margin to 42-36.  Redshirt sophomore Avery Lewis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron) scored his first points of the night to bring the Warriors within six, 44-38, at the 17:42 mark.  The Bulldog lead grew to 50-39 after a two points by Vejas Grazulis with 16:16 remaining.  A 15-footer by Marshall made it 52-46 with 13:03 left to play and a Grant triple trimmed it it to 54-49 at the 12:32 mark.  The Bulldogs answered quickly with a three-point play by Scholler to extend their advantage to 57-49.  Lewis slowed the rally with a layup at the 11:47 mark to make it 57-51.  The Green & Gold continued to chip away and a free throws from Lewis at the 10:22 mark to pull WSU within six, 60-54.
