Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State junior Isabella Zamborini's hat trick was more than enough to pace the nationally #17 ranked Bulldogs to a 4-0 win over the Lindenwood Lions on Saturday (Sept. 4) in non-conference action at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

First, at 18:57, Zamborini stripped a Lions' player of the ball and streaked down the middle before crossing a shot over LU goalkeeper Sam Blazek's right shoulder into the back of the net for the eventual game-winning goal.

Ferris State took a 2-0 lead into the half when junior Payton Price finished a cross from fellow junior Nikki May on a flying header that she put off the underside of the crossbar and in for her first of the year at 40:34 of the first period.

Later, only 3:22 into the second half, Zamborini struck again. Standing near the left post, a corner feed from junior Katie Nestico was headed by senior Bri Rogers from the right post to where Zamborini stood. Zamborini headed the feed into the lower left corner for her second of the game, giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

Zamborini finished the hat trick at 66:39 on a highlight reel individual effort. Senior Grace VerHage floated the ball up the left side and in a one-on-one run, Zamborini stopped and cut back twice on the Lindenwood defender before ripping in her third of the day for the 4-0 final.

Defenseively, the Bulldogs were a stout front, allowing only three shot attempts on the day. Ferris State fired 16 with 11 making it on goal.

In the process, freshman goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei picked up her first collegiate win and shutout in goal for the Bulldogs, making two stops. Sam Blazek took the loss for the Lions, allowing four goals on 11 shots on frame in 79:42 of action.

Ferris State was able to move deep into its bench with 24 players seeing action in the contest.

The Bulldogs hit the road to take on the Ashland Eagles in non-conference action as they open a five-game stretch in which the Bulldogs will play all of their games on the road, starting Friday (Sept. 10) at 7 p.m. (ET) in Ashland, Ohio.
