Men's Tennis Sweeps Findlay, 7-0

This is the second consecutive 7-0 win for the Green and Gold.

Sophomore Niklas Karcz won his No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles matches.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis squad (2-1 overall, 0-0 GLIAC) blanked Findlay (2-1 overall, 0-0 GMAC), 7-0, on Saturday afternoon.

DOUBLES RESULTS
Sophomore Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, Germany) and junior Pierre Renaudie (Sathonay-Camp, France) were first off the court after winning their No. 2 doubles match 6-1 against Carlos Blanco and Nicholas Kopylec.

Seniors Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) and Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) were the next to finish at No. 1 doubles, with a 6-4 win over Tomas Kmetko and Jorge Barnuevo.

Redshirt junior Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and freshman Max Rink (Wetzlar, Germany) finished 7-6 in their match against Eduardo Munoz and Alfredo Berlanga.

SINGLES RESULTS
Mertz was the first singles player to finish at the third flight, notching a victory over Blanco (6-2, 6-2).

Karcz won his No. 2 singles match against Barnuevo (6-0, 6-3).

At No. 4 singles, Renaudie claimed a win versus Munoz (6-3, 6-2).

Vane finished fourth at No. 1 singles, winning his match vs. Kmetko (6-3, 6-4)

At the fifth flight, Rink notched a victory against Berlanga (6-3, 6-0).

Freshman David Solar (Prague, Czech Republic) was the last off the court at No. 6 singles, winning in a tiebreaker versus Sergio Palacio (2-6, 6-2, 10-6).
