Bulldogs Close Out Florida Tourney With Decisive Win Over William Carey

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad closed out the 2019 portion of its schedule with a dominating 74-49 win over William Carey (Miss.) to wrap up the Christmas Classic on Friday (Dec. 20) afternoon in Lakeland, Fla.

The Bulldogs opened the game with a 15-6 edge after the first period and then used a huge 30-4 third quarter run to put the game away while moving to 7-4 on the year.

FSU freshman forward Chloe Idoni tallied a team-high 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the victory while the Bulldogs also received 13 points from freshman guard Mallory McCartney. Off the bench, FSU's Zoe Anderson contributed 11 points and senior Lilly George netted 10 points for Ferris State.

A total of 11 Bulldog players saw action and all 11 scored in the triumph.

Overall, Ferris State shot 40% from the floor and went nine-of-32 (28.1%) from beyond the three-point arc along with 13-of-17 (76.5%) at the line.

The Bulldogs finished with 14 steals, including four from Idoni, wile also managing 13 assists and two blocked shots.

Ferris State limited William Carey to only 29.6% shooting and a six-of-21 (28.6%) effort from three-point range in addition to 11-of-18 (61.1%) at the free throw stripe.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 2, when FSU hosts West Michigan rival Grand Valley State in GLIAC action starting at 7:30 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena.
