LANSING, Mich. -- The fifth-seeded Wayne State University baseball team (23-15 overall) continued play in the GLIAC Tournament against sixth-seeded Saginaw Valley State (17-17 overall) on Friday morning and the Warriors staved off elimination with a 4-3 come from behind victory. The games are being played at Jackson Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
WSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI triple by junior Rudy Ramirez (Brighton, Mich.). Senior starting pitcher Nicholas O'Dea (Livonia, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) held the Cardinals scoreless through four innings until SVSU used three hits and a WSU error in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 advantage.
Senior Jacob Finkbeiner (Saline, Mich.) sent an RBI double to left center in the bottom of the fifth inning and a fielding error allowed the Green & Gold to tie the game at 3-3.
Redshirt junior Ryan Foley (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Saline) doubled to start the seventh and DeLanoy drove in the go-ahead run with a double down the left field line..
Redshirt senior Jack Schmidt (Fishers, Ind. / Indianapolis Cathedral) (5-2) shut down the Cardinals over his four and a 1/3 innings of relief.
AT THE PLATE
Foley ignited the offense going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
ON THE MOUND
O'Dea allowed three runs (one earned) over four and 2/3 innings, while striking out three batters. Schmidt was impressive out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit.

Wayne State will play at 2:00 PM on Saturday against the loser of Friday's Grand Valley State and Ashland contest.
