Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad wrapped up a three-game road stretch in GLIAC play by bouncing back for a 73-65 road win at Wayne State on Saturday (Jan. 29) inside the new WSU Fieldhouse in Detroit.
The Bulldogs received a team-high 20 points from senior Zoe Anderson to move to 14-6 overall and 8-4 in conference action.
Along with Anderson, FSU got 13 points each from junior Chloe Idoni and junior Mallory McCartney along with 11 by sophomore Kadyn Blanchard.
Ferris State outscored WSU 17-13 in the third period after winning the second frame 17-8 en route to the triumph.
The Bulldogs finished with a 38.7% field goal percentage and went nine-of-20 (45.0%) beyond the three-point arc in addition to 16-of-22 (72.7%) at the free throw line. The Warriors, who fell to 11-5 overall and 7-4 in the GLIAC, shot 36.4% from the floor and connected on nine-of-19 (47.4%) three's in addition to 16-of-25 (64%) free throws.
While Ferris State was outrebounded 44-36 for the afternoon, the Bulldogs outscored WSU 14-6 in points off turnovers, forcing 18 on the day. Senior guard Adrienne Anderson totaled a team-high three steals and had six assists for FSU while playing a key defensive role, helping WSU standout Kate Sherwood to only a pair of field goals on the afternoon.
The Warriors were led by Grace George, who tallied a game-high 34 points on 11-of-18 shooting with six made three's. However, she was the only Wayne State player to reach double-digits in the game.
The Bulldogs will be back at home on Thursday (Feb. 3), hosting Davenport inside Wink Arena starting at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
