Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team recorded a 5-2 triumph over visiting Tiffin on Friday (Feb. 12) in the Bulldogs' home opener at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

Ferris State picked up its first win of the season by beating the Dragons in non-conference regional action on its home court.

The Bulldogs jumped in front early by capturing the doubles point after winning all three doubles flights. FSU took the top two doubles spots by 6-4 scores and received a 6-3 decision at the number three flight.

Ferris State gave up the first two singles position, but FSU swept the bottom four singles flights to notch the triumph. The stretch included a close three-set victory by Brittany Lavenant at the number five spot.

Overall, three of the six singles flights went to a third set.

Ferris State got two wins each from Agata Klak, Isabela Paixao and Patricia Martin Gomez. Along with Lavenant in singles play, FSU's Morgan Waller, Sam Stephenson and Sophie Daavettila all had a win as well in doubles competition.

Ferris State's previously scheduled home match set for Saturday (Feb. 13) against Indiana Wesleyan has been cancelled.

With the change, the Bulldogs are next slated to host Walsh University in another non-league regional tilt on Friday, Feb. 19, starting at 10 a.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
