Sunday's women's tennis matchup between two of the better teams in the GLIAC and G-MAC featured a number of close matches, that could have gone either way.
But the Chargers, being the seasoned, talented and experienced team they are, found a way to stay unbeaten.
Singles competition featured four three-set matches, an unusually high number, but Hillsdale knocked off Michigan Tech 4-3 to move to 5-0 on the season. The Huskies fell to 9-4 with the result.
MTU won the doubles point thanks to a tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles and a 7-5 win in the No. 2 flight. Kamryn Matthews and Canela Luna were victorious at No. 3 doubles, but the Huskies took the 1-0 lead.
Matthews posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, one of the rare one-sided matches on this day. Fellow senior Katie Bell also cruised to a win, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3 singles. All other singles matches required a third set to determine a winner.
Junior Hannah Cimpeanu was a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 winner at No. 1 singles. She was balanced out by an impressive win by Sophia Spinazze at No. 6 singles. Spinazze recovered from a 5-7 loss in the opening set to blast through her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in the final two sets to win her match and help wrap up the victory for Hillsdale.
