Tiffin University had a big 12-inning victory over Saginaw Valley State.

A big 12th-inning comeback gave Tiffin University (11-11) a split with visiting Saginaw Valley State.

Tiffin beat the Cardinals 3-2 in 12 innings in game one before falling in the nightcap 13-2 in 5 innings.

In the opener, Claire Feldkamp pitched a gem, going the full 12 innings for the win. Time and again she kept the Cardinals off the board, as Saginaw Valley stranded 11 runners as the game wore on and on. When it was all said and done, Feldkamp had allowed just one earned run and fanned four.

In the 11th inning and trailing 2-0, TU mounted an improbable comeback. Taylor Whalen and Maddie Woods both singled, with Whalen coming home on Kaylee Savage's single to make it 2-1. Maci Head then singled to tie the score and send it into the 12th inning.

After a 1-2-3 top of the inning, the Dragons went to work. Maddie Legg doubled. With two outs, Whalen then singled over the third baseman's head to put runners at the corners. Woods then won the game with a single for the 3-2 victory.

Whalen had four hits in the game, while Woods added three more. Legg also had a double.

In the nightcap, Isabella St. Peter started and took the loss, allowing 5 earned runs in 2.1 innings.

TU managed just three hits in the game and stranded just one runner as the Cardinals kept TU off the basepaths.

TU's lone offensive outburst came in the fourth when Woods singled and came home on Savage's opposite-field blast that made the score 6-2. The Cardinals, however, tallied 7 runs in the fifth to put the game away.

Aubrie Harper also had a double in the game.
