Ferris State Stays Perfect In GLIAC Men's Basketball Action With Road Win In The Soo

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad stayed perfect in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as the Bulldogs improved to a nation-leading 13-1 on the year with a 97-86 triumph over Lake Superior State on Saturday (Dec. 14) in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Bulldogs bolted out to a 55-37 halftime advantage and held on for the win down the stretch to move to 3-0 in the GLIAC.

Junior guard Walt Kelser had a huge day for the Bulldogs with a game-high 34 points on 13-of-18 shooting with six made three's in the contest.

Kelser was joined in double-digits by senior guard Greg Williams with 14 points along with junior forward Dorian Aluyi with 12 points. Sophomore Mason Pline had 11 points and senior guard D'angelo Hughes chipped in 10 points for FSU.

Ferris State shot 53% from the floor and went 16-of-37 (43.2%) beyond the three-point stripe along with 11-of-15 (73.3%) at the line.

FSU also dished out 22 assists in the win, including seven from Hughes and six by Williams. The Bulldogs netted eight steals and three blocks overall.

Meanwhile, Lake Superior State was led by Ke'Montrece Collins' team-best 23 points. Three others also reached double-figure scoring. The Lakers hit 43.7% of their field goals and were 13-of-28 (46.4%) beyond the arc in addition to 11-of-13 (84.6%) at the line.

Ferris State will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 21, as FSU hosts Lambton (Ontario) in its final game prior to the holiday break with tipoff set for 3 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena.
