MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The 21st-ranked Wayne State University women's tennis squad (17-3 overall) was upended 7-0 at No. 1-Barry University (13-0 overall) on Tuesday.
DOUBLES RESULTS
Redshirt junior
Khadija Da-Silva (Burlington, Ont.) and junior
Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) fell 6-1 to Xiyao Wang and Daniela Farfan at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, junior
Teodora Radu (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) and sophomore
Laura Cazacu (London, England) were edged 6-3 by Julie Razafindranaly and Eleonore Barrera.
Junior
Irena van Meer (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and freshman
Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) were blanked 7-0 by Mariia Skyba and Jil Engelmann at the third flight.
SINGLES RESULTS
At No. 1 singles, Cazacu dropped her match 6-1, 6-1 to Jill Engelmann, who it currently fifth in the nation.
Liong was topped 6-3, 6-1 by Razafindranaly at No. 2 singles. Razafindranaly is currently 41st in the nation.
At No. 3 singles, Da-Silva fell 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) after a second-set tiebreaker versus Daniela Farfan, ranked 47th in the nation.
Radu lost her No. 4 singles match 6-4, 6-4 against Skyba.
At No. 5 singles, Laynes was edged 6-3, 6-3 by Barrere.
Sophomore
Carla Jewell (Hobart, Ind.) fell 6-0, 6-3 to Patricia Lopez at No. 6 singles.

"Overall, it was a great Florida trip," commented head coach
Sheila Snyder. "We improved a lot during our time here. I am really proud of how the women competed against some of the top teams in the country. Despite being down several matches, our Warriors never, ever stopped competing. We feel well-prepared for the rest of our spring season.
