Warriors Edge Chargers

Box score

The Charger men's basketball team came up just short in a regional clash Wednesday night.

Hillsdale dropped a 65-60 decision to old GLIAC rival Wayne State University at the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena. The loss makes Hillsdale 3-4 overall heading into conference play next week.

The teams stayed close to one another throughout the game, but Hillsdale never could quite build up a long enough scoring run to establish momentum. The Warriors made tough shots in their half-court offense, outrebounded the Chargers, and made their free throws down the stretch, and came up with a gutty road win.

Wayne State outrebounded Hillsdale 43-31 and shot four percentage points better from the floor. The teams played to a 33-33 draw in the second half, but the Warriors' five-point halftime lead held up through the second half.

Junior forward Davis Larson had another strong offensive game with 20 points, shooting 9-for-19 from the floor. Freshman forward Patrick Cartier added 14 points and 6 rebounds and senior guard Dylan Lowry scored 13 with 6 boards and 3 assists.
