Women's Tennis Falls in Dramatic 4-3 GLIAC Tournament Championship Match To Wayne State

RECAP: Northwood women's tennis falls in a dramatic 4-3 match to Wayne State in the GLIAC Tournament Championship match Sunday (May 1).
INSIDE THE MATCH
- Northwood started the day in a positive manner, winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
- Singles saw Wayne State take the first two points to go up 2-1, winning at the No. 5 and No. 3 positions.
- The Timberwolves responded with a win at the No. 6 position thanks to Ekaterina Vorobeva to tie the match at 2-2.
- The two teams then split a pair of matches, with the Warriors taking the No. 2 match and NU's Sanvi Ahluwalia winning at the fourth-slot, meaning the championship contest came down to No. 1 singles.
- NU's Elizaveta Velichko won the first set and had a pair of match points in the second set, but WSU's Anais Ruyssen fought back to win a tightly-contested tiebreaker and force a decisive final set.
- Velichko went up an early break in the third to go up 3-1, but Ruyssen came back to win six of the final eight games to give the title to the Warriors.
