The Warriors won seven of the nine matches played.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked Wayne State University men's tennis team (17-4 overall, 5-0 GLIAC) continued its strong play on the court, as the Warriors collected a 6-1 victory over No. 31-Grand Valley State (12-4 overall, 4-2 GLIAC) Friday morning at Peachtree Tennis Club.  WSU has won six straight matches and eight of its last nine.

SINGLES
Dom Spicer (London, England) was able to win a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.

Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) was strong at No. 3 singles, collecting a 6-3, 6-2 victory.  Karcz received the team's game ball, which is given to the player who competed the best throughout the match.

Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden Germany) earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.

Playing in the No. 5 spot, Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) was able to record a 6-4, 6-3 win.

Luke Laws (Sunderland, England) made quick work of his opponent at No. 6 singles, defeating his opponent, 6-0, 6-1.

Ben Lakeman (Penzance Cornwall, England) retired in his match at No. 2 singles.

DOUBLES
Drenth and Grey continued their terrific play in the top spot of doubles, earning a 6-4 victory.

Spicer and Laws dropped their match at No. 2 doubles, 4-6.

Lakeman and Karcz proved to be too much to handle at No. 3 doubles, pulling out a 6-1 win.

FROM COACH MORROW
"Doubles, probably the best energy I've ever seen from a team.  It was amazing.  No. 1 doubles played fast, got up early.  It got a little tight at the end, but they pulled it out.  Dom and Luke ended up not pulling it out, but No. 3 doubles played absolutely as good of tennis as you can play," coach Bryan Morrow said.  "Really proud of the team.  Hoping we can be ready after a tough match like this for Ferris State tomorrow."

UP NEXT
WSU will hit the court again tomorrow night in another battle between ranked opponents.  The Warriors will square off with No. 20-Ferris State at 7 PM at Peachtree Tennis Club.
