Softball's Bats Come Alive In 10-3 Win Over East Stroudsburg

RECAP: The Northwood's softball teams bats were the story of their 10-3 win over East Stroudsburg Sunday afternoon. NU combined for three home runs to comeback from a 3-1 deficit early. 

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS – East Stroudsburg

  • The Warriors started the game strong with a lead off home run to start the game putting NU down 1-0.
  • East Stroudsburg extended their lead in the second with an RBI single up the middle to make it 2-0.
  • Northwood responded later that same inning with an RBI single through the left side by Gianna Fantin with the bases loaded to get one back, 2-1. 
  • A sac fly in the third extended the Warriors lead, 3-1.
  • Delanie Grundman led off the bottom of the third with a solo shot to left field, 3-2. 
  • In the fourth, the Timberwolves came alive, totaling five hits and four runs. A 2-RBI double by Haley Frank to the right center gap gave the Wolves the lead, followed by Madelin Skene 2-run single through the left side added to it. Northwood led 6-3 at the end of the inning. 
  • Hailey Leister came in relief in the third and total four innings to right the ship and give NU the lead for good.
  • The Frank sister's played long ball in the sixth. Haley drilled a 2-run bomb to left center while Shayna Frank pulled a 2-run bomb to left field giving the Timberwolves a 10-3 lead.
  • Emily Cox came in to pitch in the seventh to and finished the game with an infield fly and a strikeout.
