Bulldogs Run Away From Tiffin In 2nd Half

The Tiffin University women's basketball team headed to the halftime locker room tied at 37-37 with Ferris State University on Thursday night, but it was the Bulldogs that caught fire in the 2nd half to drop the Dragons 87-68.

The Dragons were on fire in the opening quarter, scoring 20 points in 43.8% shooting from the field. Tiffin's defense held the Bulldogs to 14 points on 33.3% shooting from the field, but Ferris State did go 4 for 4 from the free throw line.

Ferris State slowly began to find their footing on the offensive end in the 2nd quarter, outscoring Tiffin 23-17. Ferris State shot only 42.1% from the field, but were 7 of 9 from the free line. The Dragons hit a dry spell from beyond the arc in the quarter, connecting on only 1 of 6 attempts. At the break, the two sides were tied 37-37.

The Bulldogs outscored Tiffin by seven in the 3rd quarter, racking up their best shooting percentage in any quarter at 57.1%. On the other side of the floor, Tiffin netted 14 points on 38.5% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs pulled away in the final quarter, pouring in 29 points to down Tiffin 87-68. 

The Dragons were led by Sarah Cummings with 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting from the field. Ali Schirmer netted 12 points, Kiley May added 11 points, and Aida Santana Martin finished with 10 points. Jensen Hiegel led the Dragons in rebounding with eight.
