Ferris State Tennis Teams Roll Past Hillsdale In Regional Road Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads rolled to a pair of big regional wins on Friday (Feb. 10) as both FSU teams topped Hillsdale on the road.

The Bulldog men opened the day with a strong 7-0 sweep over the Chargers before the women pulled out a 5-2 decision in the nightcap.

In the men's contest, the Bulldogs captured the first and third doubles flights to clinch the point in building the early advantage. FSU then took all six singles positions, including a pair of third-set wins from Erik Kovacs at one singles and Alessandro Santangelo at the five spot in the lineup.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall this season with the win.

Meanwhile, in the women's contest, the Bulldogs fought back after the Chargers won the initial point by taking two of three doubles flights.

However, in singles competition, Ferris State managed to win five of the six flights. FSU's Parker Nolan won in the third set at two singles and Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer also pulled out a three-set decision at the fourth position.

The Bulldogs are now 4-1 overall this year in women's action.

Both Ferris State teams will next play host to Findlay in yet another in-region matchup. The men take on the Oilers in Big Rapids on Saturday (Feb. 11) starting at 2:30 p.m. (ET) inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center with the women's contest slated for an 11 a.m. (ET) start on Sunday (Feb. 12).
