HOUGHTON, Mich. – Rasheed Bello posted 20 points to help Wisconsin Parkside over Michigan Tech 76-58 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball Saturday afternoon at SDC Gymnasium.

The Huskies fell to 8-18 overall, 5-12 in GLIAC play. Despite the loss, Adam Hobson had a positive outing for Michigan Tech with a team-high 15 points. However, the Rangers scored 46 points in the paint compared to 16 for Tech and pulled away in the second half.

"They're a good team and they were tougher than us," said head coach Josh Buettner. "They have a great defensive game plan. Everything we had was contested, especially at the rim. We didn't shoot well but most of the credit goes to Parkside. They took away a lot of what our players wanted to do individually and they excecated better than we did physically and schematically."

Parkside took a 22-5 run into halftime for a 35-27 lead. The Huskies finished the day 20-for-58 from the field (34.5 percent) and trailed by as many as 24 nearing the five-minute mark of the second half.

"We're not quite there yet as a group figuring out how to stop a run and handle that adversity," Buettner said. "Parkside is well-coached and they don't make the couple of mistakes that could help jump-start us. They don't beat themselves. It's not that they made a ton of adjustments, just that they were better than us. We had a good start but couldn't sustain it."

Parkside won the boards battle 42-29 and the Huskies committed eight turnovers, leading to 12 points by UWP.

Marcus Tomashek also made it to double figures with 11 points and shot 3-for-11 from beyond the arc.

The Huskies (8-18, 5-12) host Northern Michigan in the final game of the regular season Saturday, February 25 at 3 p.m. Tech remains in contention for a top-eight position and a berth to the conference tournament. GLIAC quarterfinals are scheduled for March 1.
