HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
After a three-pointer and made field goal from each team over the first 1:21 of the game, WSU tallied the next six points between 8:30 and 7:15 to move ahead 11-5.  Wayne State led the rest of the way for the contest once grabbing the lead, and out-paced LSSU by eight (22-14) in the period.

Sophomore forward Taylor Thompson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and redshirt senior guard Kate McArthur (Warren, Mich. / Cousino (Central Michigan)) each registered six points in the stanza, with all of Thompson's occurring in the opening two minutes.

Second Quarter
Lake Superior State cut its deficit to five (24-19) on a lay-up from Gracey Metz with 8:16 remaining, but the Green and Gold managed the next 11 points to obtain a 16-point edge (35-19) at the 5:49 mark.  Junior forward Shea Tripp (Jackson, Mich. / Michigan Center) was responsible for five straight points between 8:04 and 7:40.  Another Tripp lay-up extended WSU's advantage to 19 (44-25) with 3:31 left.  The Lakers outscored the Warriors 4-3 over the final 3:01 of the stanza.

Third Quarter
Following a lay-up from Jaden Wilder 72 seconds into the new quarter, the visitors would earn 15 consecutive points over the next five-plus minutes to obtain a 31-point edge (62-31) with 3:20 left to play in the frame.  The Lakers would end their scoring drought of nearly six minutes via a Breah Golden lay-up with 3:07 remaining.  Over the last three minutes of the third quarter, Lake Superior State would garner five points to WSU's four. However, Wayne State went into the final 10-minute span with a 28-point lead (66-38).

The Green and Gold held the Lakers to just nine points in the stanza.

Fourth Quarter
The Warriors had fourth quarter runs of 8-0 and 10-0 to put the finishing touches on the triumph.  WSU's 10-point run between 6:02 and 2:15 put its lead over 40 points (88-45).  The guests' stifling defense held LSSU to 11 points for the final period and a total of 20 for the second half.  A lay-up from sophomore forward Mackenzie Miller (Schoolcraft, Mich. (Lakeland University)) with 2:15 left officially gave the Warriors a season-high 88 points.
