DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team continued their trek through Florida by traveling to Daytona Beach to play Embry-Riddle University. In one of SVSU's best matches this season, the Cardinals fought throughout every flight but fell to the Eagles by a score of 6-1.
Maddie Miller lead the way by taking home a straight set victory at #1 Singles by the score of 6-3, 6-1. At #5 Singles, freshman Sara Neves turned in the most exciting match of the day in a two hour back-and-forth battle before ultimately falling by a score of 7-5, 7-6. At #2 Singles, Joanne Gao also showed that Cardinal fight before falling by the score of 6-1, 6-4.
"Really proud of the fight we showed today in Daytona Beach" said Head Coach Ryan Ruzziconi. "That team fight and determination is always the first step in moving a program forward. It's the attitude we want daily in our tennis program, and this team is establishing that against some really good competition here in Florida."
