Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad completed a season sweep of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular-season and tournament championships as the Bulldogs defeated rival Grand Valley State by a 4-2 score on Sunday (April 24) in the league's postseason title match at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

Ferris State claimed the GLIAC Tournament title for the fourth time in the last five times it has been awarded, beating the Lakers for the second time this year.

FSU took the doubles point by winning two of the three flights, claiming both one doubles and two doubles, before taking three of the five completed singles contests.

For the second-straight day, the Bulldogs went without top player Mathis Guerre due to injury in the singles round, but found a way to garner the win. Yannic Alexander Mader was a winner at the number one flight while the Bulldogs also got a win from Jan Koupil at two singles and a big triumph to clinch the victory from Benjamin Lortie at the third spot in the lineup.

The Lakers managed to pick up wins at four and six singles while FSU's Ayush Deswal was still battling on the court at five singles when the match concluded.

Ferris State, which is now 15-0 overall, most recently also swept the GLIAC's regular-season and tournament titles from 2016-18 before Wayne State won the 2019 tournament and the 2020 was cancelled.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament with the official pairings and teams making the field slated to be announced on May 4. The event runs from May 7-9 back in Midland.
