The Malone University volleyball team registered a season-high .379 attack percentage during a three-set sweep at Lake Erie College on Friday evening. The Pioneers piled up 45 kills and just nine errors in 95 attack attempts during the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-13.
Malone improved to 10-13 overall and 5-7 in conference play with the victory while the Storm slipped to 1-20 overall and 1-11 in the GLIAC.
Outside hitter
Taylor Slauterbeck paced the Pioneer attack, piling up 15 kills and zero errors in 20 attack attempts for a sizzling .750 hitting percentage. Outside hitter
Sarah Brent was also very efficient, posting eight kills and just two errors in 13 attacks for a hitting percentage of .462. Middle hitter
Elizabeth Maczuzak also tallied eight kills with three blocks (two solo) while fellow middle hitter
Lauren Townley ended the evening with seven kills and four blocks (two solo). Libero
Katie Hasebein also made solid contributions with a match-high 14 digs.
The Pioneers will look to make it two in a row on Saturday when they travel to Ashland University for a 2:00 p.m. match against the Eagles, the team currently leading the GLIAC South Division standings (17-6 overall, 9-3 GLIAC). Ashland will provide live statistics during the contest at
