Women's Tennis rounds-out fall season at GLIAC Tournament

MIDLAND -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team faced the Ferris State University Bulldogs on Sunday (Oct. 27) in the third day of the 2019 GLIAC Tournament. The Bulldogs came out victorious in the match, posting a 4-1 win over the Cardinals at the Greater Midland Tennis Center. 

FSU won both of the doubles matches that finished, which were at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Maddie Miller and Taylor McLaughlin dropped their matchup at the top spot 6-2, as did Joanne Gao and Gyselle Daza Gutierrez at the No. 2 position.

Gao would take the lone victory for SVSU in singles action, posting a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. 

Nicole Johnson had a three-set match at No. 6 singles, taking the first 6-3 before falling 6-2, 7-6 in the second and third sets, respectively. Sara Neves lost at No. 5 6-3, 6-4 and Gutierrez at No. 4 6-2, 6-2. 

Saginaw Valley is now finished with the 2019 fall season and will resume competition in the spring. Its first match is set for February 2 at Hillsdale in a regional match.
