Ferris State Pulls Away From Wisconsin-Parkside In Conference Victory At BRHS

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad built a six-point lead at the end of the opening period and went on to top visiting Wisconsin-Parkside 87-72 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Saturday (Dec. 4) afternoon inside the Big Rapids High School Gymnasium.

FSU took a 27-21 lead at the end of one period and increased the lead to eight points at halftime. The lead stood at six after three before the Bulldogs outscored the Rangers 29-20 in the fourth period to pull away.

Ferris State shot nearly 50% from the floor and had four starters reach double-figure scoring in the win. 

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore guard Kadyn Blanchard with 21 points while junior Mallory McCartney finished with 18 points. Meanwhile, senior guard Adrienne Anderson chipped in 17 points and Chloe Idoni garnered 15 points for FSU.

Along with shooting a strong percentage from the floor, the Bulldogs also made nine-of-24 (37.5%) three's and hit 24-of-32 (75%) free throws.

Overall, the Bulldogs owned a 35-30 rebounding edge and forced 19 turnovers in the triumph while holding the Rangers to 44.6% shooting and a nine-of-25 (36%) figure from three-point range. UWP went 13-of-15 (86.7%) at the stripe.

Ferris State improved to 8-1 overall with its eighth-straight win and is now 2-0 after the opening weekend of conference play.

The Bulldogs will begin a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula against Northern Michigan on Thursday, Dec. 9, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.
