SVSU earns Senior Day victory over NMU

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team defeated Northern Michigan University in four sets on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. SVSU finishes the regular season with a 16-10 overall record and 8-7 in the GLIAC

The Wildcats were able to hold off the Cardinals in set one 25-23. In set two SVSU won 28-26, and then cruised 25-14 in set three. Set four saw the Cardinals win 25-21 and earn the match victory. 

Rylee Zimmer led the Cardinals with 15 kills, while Maria Vukaj had 14 kills and Madison Thompson finished with 11. Peyton Gerstacker led the Cardinals in assists with 43. She also had 12 digs. Kelsey Vittitow finished with 19 digs, while Addison Bouza had 10 digs. 

Northern Michigan was led by Jacqueline Smith with 20 kills.

The Cardinals will now prepare for the GLIAC Tournament beginning on Nov. 17. Time and site will be announced at a later date.
