PREVIEW: Men's Tennis prepares for ITA Regionals

HOUGHTON, Mich. - Several members of the Michigan Tech men's tennis team will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament this weekend in Grand Rapids, Michigan beginning Friday and ending Sunday. The event features individual player competition in singles and doubles with a seeded bracket including players from each institution in the region. Grand Valley State hosts.

This year, the Huskies are represented by junior Vitor Jordao (Recife, Brazil), junior Andrew Freel (Boksburg, South Africa), sophomore Nikolai Prosjankyov (Chile), sophomore Ricardo Nunez (Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico), sophomore Eli Pinnoo (St. Clair, Michigan), sophomore Ambarish Rao (Irvine, California), and freshman Adam Fenjiro (Rabat, Morocco). 

In the singles A-draw, Prosjanykyov will contend with No. 16 seed Mario Aleksic (MU) in the first round. Jordao plays No. 7 seed Dominic Spicer (Wayne State). In doubles A-draw, Jordao and Pinnoo are scheduled to face No. 4 seeded Luke Laws and Dom Spicer (Wayne State) in round one.

The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships. Regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships hosted in Rome, Georgia.
