Tiffin University (2-2) used a strong second half and a tremendous last second save by Kat Schneeberger to pull out a 13-12 win over visiting Lake Erie at Frost Kalnow Stadium in the Dragons' home opener.

Leading by a goal with 1:10 remaining, Lake Erie had a point blank shot at Schneeberger, who made the save to preserve the lead. The Dragons were then able to run the clock out for the victory.

The Dragons found themselves in a hole early, as the Storm erupted for the first four goals of the game over the first 8 minutes. A timeout by Erica Brown seemed to turn the momentum, as the Dragons outscored Lake Erie over the rest of the first half 4-2. Maddy Batley and Amanda Flotteron scored two goals apiece in the first half as TU narrowed the gap.

TU traded goals with Lake Erie over the first 7 minutes of the second half but then took control. Trailing 8-6, TU ripped off five straight goals over the next 10 minutes to take a 11-8 lead. Flotteron had two more goals while Elle Hamilton also tallied two goals to spark the streak.

Lake Erie regrouped and scored two goals to pull to within 11-10 with 7 minutes left. Hamilton and Elle MacMillan scored a couple more goals for TU to push the lead back to 13-10 with 4:36 to play but again the Storm fought back. Goals at 4:13 and 1:50 brought Lake Erie to within 13-12. But Schneeberger's brilliant save ended the Storm's bid to get to overtime.

Overall Lake Erie outshot TU 31-29 and won the draws 15-12. TU held the ground ball edge 15-12 while also forcing 14 Storm turnovers. 

Flotteron finished with 4 goals, while Batley also had 3 goals and 2 caused turnovers. Hamilton had 3 goals and an assist, with MacMillan getting a goal and assist along with 6 draws. Schneeberger had 12 saves over 60 minutes for the win, while also getting 5 ground balls with 2 caused turnovers. Diana Oduho had 4 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers. Amie Morrison also knocked home two goals.
