WEEK SIX PREVIEW: No. 25 Cardinals host nation's top team, Ferris State
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team returns home after three straight on the road to welcome the nation's number one ranked team and defending NCAA DII National Champion, Ferris State University this weekend. 
 
The matchup between the No. 25 Cardinals and the No. 1 Bulldogs is set for 2 pm on Saturday at Wickes Stadium. Fans can purchase tickets and parking in advance by CLICKING HERE
 
SVSU comes into play this week after suffering its first loss of the season in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener last weekend at No. 2 Grand Valley State University. 
 
After a fast start, the Cardinals fell to the Lakers 29-10 to drop to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC. Ferris State University, the defending NCAA DII National Champion, enters Saturday's game with a record of 4-0 overall and 0-0 in the GLIAC. 
 
In the matchup last season, SVSU gave Ferris State all it could handle, coming back on several occasions and pushing the Bulldogs to overtime with the Cardinals eventually falling 47-45 in Big Rapids. 
 
Isaiah Malcome has established himself as the top option out of the backfield for the Cardinals, averaging nearly 75 yards per game, which ranks third in the GLIAC, and has scored four touchdowns on the ground this season. Micah Cretsinger ranks fourth in the GLIAC in tackles per game after recording 10 last weekend, including a sack and a forced fumble.
 
During the game on Saturday, SVSU will honor the Pride of the Valley Marching Band as a part of the 2022 Band Day.
