Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team surrendered just three shot attempts in a 1-0 victory over the Purdue Northwest Pride on Friday (Sept. 23) at the Bulldog Soccer Field for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory.

Ferris State attempted 36 shots of its own, with 14 on goal, but needed a goal in the 71st minute to crack PNW keeper Ashley Lovins for the victory.

The Bulldogs got on the board when freshman Avery Comartin centered a pass from near the goal line out right of the goal. Ferris State junior Sarah Katinas dropped a pass off her heel to sophmore Juliana Bernal, who buried her first collegiate goal at 70:31 of the contest.

In goal, Ferris State sophomore Lauren Kubacki made two first half stops, and saw just one shot attempt in the second half for her second career shutout in her second career start to move to 2-0-0. The Bulldogs peppered Lovins, who made 13 stops for PNW in the loss.

The Bulldogs, who had the run of the play from start to finish, attempted seven corner kicks and allowed just one.

Ferris State moved alone into third place, half a game up on Davenport with the victory in the GLIAC standings. The Bulldogs return home Sunday (Sept. 25) to take on the Parkside Rangers in league play for Senior Day, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field. Fans are encouraged to arrive early with the Senior Day ceremony set to start at approximately 12:30 p.m.
