Bulldog Softball Earns Day Two Split At Music City Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team notched its first win of the 2022 season on Saturday (Feb. 19) as FSU earned a split in day two action at the Music City Invitational near Nashvillle, Tenn.

The Bulldogs earned a 2-1 win over Rockhurst (Mo.) in the opening game of the day before falling to McKendree (Ill.) 20-0 in five innings of action.

In game one, FSU scored once in the first and once in the third en route to the win, totaling seven hits to four for the Hawks.

Senior Paige Kortz led the Bulldogs with three hits overall while second baseman. Josie Prince netted two hits for FSU. Kortz also drove in both runs.

The Bulldogs' Mckenzie Cleland notched the win the pitching circle, allowing only one run on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks in seven complete innings of action.

In the nightcap, McKendree jumped in front early and scored in all five innings of action en route to the win. The Bearcats totaled 20 hits to five for FSU.

Both Kylie Winkels and Kaitlyn Fick had multiple hits for the Bulldogs in game two.

Ferris State will close out the Music City Invitational with two more games on Sunday (Feb. 20) against Southern Indiana and Missouri S&T starting at 10 a.m. (ET) and 12 p.m. (ET), respectively.
