UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team fell 77-62 against Wisconsin-Parkside in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup on Friday night inside O'Neill Arena. Freddie McIntosh led the way for the Cardinals (4-6, 1-1 GLIAC) with 16 points and five rebounds in the losing effort.

Steven Post added a career-high of 12 points off 5-7 shooting from the floor, along with four rebounds. Maurice Barnett tallied nine points, while Tre Garrett hauled in a team-high six rebounds. Jiovanni Miles was the team's leading playmaker with three assists. Miles added eight points to his numbers for the evening.

The Rangers (8-2, 3-0 GLIAC) finished the game with 52.7% shooting from the floor and 44% accuracy from beyond the arc in the win. Those shooting totals started early when Parkside jumped to a 7-2 advantage in the opening three minutes of play. UWP made ten three-point jumpers in the first half, and 76.9% of the shots attempted in the opening stanza to build the 52-27 point lead at the intermission.

The Cardinals' defense stiffened, and the Rangers went cold in the second half as they made just one of their 11 attempts from deep and shot only 26.9% from the field. McIntosh went off in the second as he went 6-12 for 13 points and led the attempted comeback from SVSU. The sophomore guard from Saginaw assisted on a dunk by Post that sparked a 6-0 run in the second and cut the lead to 17 points with 15:24 left in regulation. McIntosh hit a jumper at the 11:14 mark that trimmed the margin to 61-50, but the Cardinals could not pull any closer before the final buzzer sounded.
