Houghton, Mich. - The nationally 16th-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team stayed unbeaten, winning 1-0 over the Michigan Tech Huskies at Kearly Stadium on Sunday (April 11) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The two teams were deadlocked until 85:50 when senior Maddie Dickens wired a long shot towards the goal. A Michigan Tech defender jumped for it, but it bounced off of her head and into the open goal for the game-winner.

The goal was Dickens first of the season and just her second collegiate marker. Her last goal came 518 days ago. Senior Mackenzie Dawes picked up the helper for her second assist of the season.

Ferris State carried much of the play with a 16-8 edge in total shots and a 6-2 lead in shots on goal. The Bulldogs attempted six corners, including four in the first half, and held the Huskies to just one corner try.

Michigan Tech's best chance of the day came at 60:28 when Grace Shaw laced a shot past Ferris State junior keeper Taryn Meiste, but off the right goal post to keep the game scoreless.

In goal, Meiste picked up her fifth shutout of the season and third in a row for Ferris State. No one has scored on Meiste in her last 314:50 in goal for the Bulldogs dating back to March 28. The shutout is her eighth career blanking, good for fourth most in program history. Meiste made two saves in the outing.

Ferris State remains unbeaten and atop the GLIAC at 6-0-1. They'll make the trek home from the Upper Peninsula after a 1-0-1 trip to take on the Northwood Timberwolves on Sunday (April 18) at the Bulldog Soccer Field for a 1 p.m. (ET) kickoff.
