DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (8-9 overall, 3-0 GLIAC) won its third-straight match after defeating Hillsdale College, 9-0, on Saturday morning at the WSU Multipurpose Facility in Midtown Detroit. DOUBLES RESULTS - Freshman
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and sophomore
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) topped Zach Rabitoy and Jerry Hewitt, 8-4, at the third doubles flight, while junior
Clement Charriere and freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) bested Justin Hyman and Dugan Delp, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles.
- Sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) and junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) earned a close, 9-8(11-9), victory over John Ciraci and Gianpiero Placidi at the second doubles position.
SINGLES RESULTS - Reed notched a two-set win (6-4, 6-1) against Placidi at the third singles flight, while Sammons beat Hewitt, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
- Ruocco topped Ciraci in two sets (6-4, 6-3) at the fourth singles position, and Vane posted a victory, 6-1, 7-6(7-2), over Delp at the second singles flight.
- Freshman
Jason Potter (Sterling Heights, Mich. / International Academy East) bested Rabitoy, 6-2, 7-6(7-4), at No. 5 singles, while Charriere recorded a super tiebreaker victory, 10-6 (6-4, 6-7(7-4) versus Hyman at the first singles position.
