Preview: Laker Volleyball Set for Weekend Trip Downstate

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University volleyball program (1-12, 0-5 GLIAC) is set
to face two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matches and two of the top three
attackers, statistically, that the conference has to offer this weekend. They will travel to Detroit, Mich.
on Friday, Sept. 23 to face the Wayne State Warriors, and on the very next day, the Lakers will face the
Davenport University Panthers in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Warriors have an overall record of 8-5, and 2-3 in the GLIAC, and snapped a three-game losing
streak with a win over Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday. Maddy Benoit leads the GLIAC in digs with 254,
and the Warriors also boast the league-leader in total blocks with 51 from Halle Shell.

The Panthers currently hold an overall record of 10-4, and a 3-2 record in the GLIAC, and they will face
the Ferris State Bulldogs prior to their match against the Lakers on Saturday. Lexie Beeke, with over 280
assists, runs a balanced offense that often sees Hayley Kreiger on the attack as she leads her team in kills
scoring over 220 kills for an average of 4.33 kills per set to rank second in the GLIAC in both categories.
