Oilers Fall to Ferris St. in Regional

The University of Findlay men's basketball team saw their season come to an end in Canton, Ohio on March 11 as they fell 87-81 to Ferris State University in the opening round of the 2022 NCAA Division II National Tournament. The loss gave the Oilers a 19-11 record on the year.

The Oilers shot 49.2 percent (31-of-63) from the floor and drilled 12-of-26 (46.2%) attempts from behind the three point line. The Bulldogs meanwhile made 51.8 percent (29-of-56) of their shot attempts and made 20-of-28 (71.4%) tries from the free throw line. In comparison, Findlay was only 7-of-14 (50%) from the charity stripe.

Senior forward Anthony Masterlasco finished with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting which included a perfect 4-of-4 performance from three point range. He finishes his career as the Oilers all-time leader in games played (143) and ranked 21st all-time with 1,388 points.

Junior forward Nathan Bruns had 15 points while junior guard Joey Edmonds had 13 points and five assists.

Senior guard Tre'Maine Gray had 11 points, six assists, and four rebounds while senior forward Deven Stover recorded 11 points and four boards.

Walt Kelser and Lee Higgins paced the Bulldogs with 22 points apiece.
