Ferris State Gets Back On Track As #11 Bulldogs Race To Win In Motor City

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad got back on track in a big way on Saturday (Feb. 1) as the Bulldogs raced past Wayne State 93-67 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action in Detroit.

After a tough setback at Ashland on Thursday night, FSU opened quickly against the Warriors and hit 10 three-pointers in the opening half in building a double-digit advantage. The lead stood at 12 points, 48-36, at halftime.

In the second period, the Bulldogs pushed the lead to as many as 26 points and regained control to move to 21-4 overall this year along with 10-3 in the GLIAC.

Junior forward Logan Ryan made his first start as a Bulldog and finished with a team-high 17 points as one of six players in double-figures.

The Bulldogs also got 12 points each from junior Dorian Aluyi along with freshman Jeremiah Washington in the balanced effort while junior Walt Kelser scored 11 points as did junior forward Michael Peterson, who added 10 boards in a double-double performance. Finally, FSU got 10 points off the bench from sophomore Mason Pline.

Ferris State outscored Wayne State 32-22 inside the paint and FSU finished with a 15-of-26 (57.7%) three-point shooting performance. The Bulldogs also got 41 points off the bench to only two for the Warriors. Overall, FSU shot 53% from the floor in the game and outrebounded the Warriors 42-27 with 14 offensive caroms.

Wayne State was led by Karim Murray and James Gordon IV, who both finished with 20 points.

With the win, the Bulldogs held onto first place in the GLIAC North Division standings.

Ferris State returns home to open a four-game homestand against Saginaw Valley State on Thursday, Feb. 6, starting at 5:30 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena. Five of the Bulldogs' final seven regular-season games remaining are in Big Rapids.
