Men's Basketball Handles Central State

Junior Ronald Booth notched his ninth career 20-point game on Wednesday.

DETROIT -- After an 11-day break, the Wayne State University men's basketball program (2-1) returned to the court on Wednesday night against Central State (2-2) inside the Matthaei.  The Warriors shot nearly 60 percent for the game (34-of-58) on their way to an 86-67 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- George Spencer (Detroit, Mich. / Belleville) found room in the paint for a layup, giving WSU an 11-7 lead at the 15-minute mark of the first half.  The Marauders tied the contest at 13-13 and took a 25-24 lead with 6:27 left to play in the stanza.  However, the Green & Gold ended the period on an 18-5 run to take a 42-30 lead into the locker room.

-  Marcus Moore (Lansing, Mich. / Waverly) began the scoring in the second half with a three-point play to extend the home lead to 45-30.  Ronald Booth (Detroit, Mich. / Consortium) began to heat up and knocked down back-to-back triples to put WSU up 61-44 at the 11:15 mark.  A Chuck Key (Detroit, Mich. / Cass Tech) steal led to two Clark Bishop (Detroit, Mich. / Renaissance) free throws to give the Warriors a 73-55 advantage with five minutes to play.  WSU would cruise to an 86-67 victory, its second rout over a G-MAC program.

BOOTH'S NIGHT
- Booth led three Warriors scoring in double-figures with a game-high 23 points.  It is his ninth career 20-point performance and second this season.  He connected on 5-of-7 three pointers.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Wayne State used 46 points in the paint, including 25 fast break points to power it's second straight win.

GREER NEARING MILESTONE
David Greer is now two wins away from matching Ron Hammye's program record of 212 victories, which he collected in his 13 seasons (1988-01).
