The Malone University women's basketball team made it a clean sweep in Indiana over the weekend as the Pioneers posted a 76-70 victory at Indiana University-Southeast Saturday afternoon, after a win at the University of Southern Indiana Friday night.

With the win, Malone improved to 2-0 on the year while IU-Southeast suffered its first loss of the young season, falling to 2-1 overall.

In the first period, the host Grenadiers opened up their largest lead of the half with a five-point edge, at 8-3, in the early going before the Pioneers pulled back to grab a five-point lead of their own, at 26-21, with 4:07 left in the stanza. IU-Southeast was able to tally the next six points to take a brief 27-26 lead before forward
Lindsy Snyder tossed in a field goal with 1:26 left to give Malone the 28-27 lead at the half.

In the final frame, the hosts took back the lead at 33-32 before a three-pointer by guard
Rachel Goddard gave the advantage right back to Malone -- a lead the Pioneers would never relinquish. IU-Southeast kept it close, at 47-43 in favor of the Pioneers, with just over nine minutes to play before Malone went on an 8-0 run to take control of the contest with a 55-43 lead with eight minutes left.  With Malone holding its largest lead of the contest, at 63-50 with 6:48 remaining, the hosts made one final charge and cut the lead to just four points with just 15 seconds left, at 74-70, before a pair of made free throws by Goddard with 11 ticks left sealed the six-point Pioneer win.

Snyder led all scorers in the contest as she poured in 20 points with an impressive 10-for-13 shooting effort from the field. She also yanked down a game-high 10 rebounds as well.

Goddard also racked up twin figures in scoring as she posted 17 points, including a 4-of-7 performance from long range. Forward
Alyssa Brandon came in off the bench and, in just over eight minutes of play, was a perfect three-for-three from three-point range for a nine-point tally in the contest. Guard
Logan Pastor paced the squad in assists with five.

For IU-Southeast, Heather Wheat led the team in scoring with 19 points while Mary Dye paced the squad in rebounds with six.

Malone (2-0) will next compete in its home opener this Saturday (Nov. 22nd) in a 3:00 p.m. contest against Ohio Valley University (WV).
